LED Planter
Furaha Katebe
BRIEF 1 I had to create a working prototype and design for a tabletop LED herb planter for the kitchen or living room. The Planter can only be constructed with 1.5mm white ABS plastic. It should be left in its natural state and given high-quality finishing sanding where necessary. It needs to remain unpainted. To function as a growlight, the Planter needs to have a little bit of LED strip lighting above the plant area, complete with a power line. +/- 300 mm. At least three "pot" regions in the design are required to hold herbs and soil with a minimum volume of 100 mm by 100 mm by 100 mm per pot. At least one curve must be included in the design. I took into account the way light and shade interact, your general planter form, and the actual herb. There are several thicknesses of plastic sheeting; the most practical range is between 0.9 and 1.5 mm. For this project, you will be using 1.5mm for fabrication purposes. To help with the prototyping process, a basic introduction to plastic fabrication will be provided. Use chemical adhesives like superglue, methylene chloride, or MEK, and chloroform (available from some chemists) when bonding plastic.
